PRATTSVILLE – We continue to be grateful to our healthcare workers, our essential workers and those who work daily to keep our lives on track. Thank you.
It has been an absolutely magnificent marriage to send Joe and Karissa McGunnigle Baker to live a wonderful life together. Joe and Karissa exchanged vows on September 24 in a mountain top ceremony at Windhan Manor.
To kick off the weekend celebration, the Thursday night rehearsal took place at the Ze Wine Bar. Cordelia Schrieber and her mother, Jessika, did a wonderful job. Joe C. of Brandy Wine provided the food and the service. Amazing and delicious despite the pouring rain. Friday, the wedding day, was a beautiful sunny day. The ceremony took place at Windham Manor. Which place ! Owners Susan and Barry have done a spectacular job there. The bride herself, Karissa, has been decorated and every detail has been taken care of.
The wedding was celebrated by Joe’s godfather, Uncle John Zeich. Uncle Dennis Baker gave a nice speech. Joe Baker was extremely handsome and the bride was gorgeous. Guess who was security? Our own Mindy Sokoll.
The staff of the Manor should also be mentioned. Very impressive, especially Karen Fox-Carroll. Wow! The food was awesome. The desserts were amazing, the group amazing. Everyone had a great time. The party continued the next day at the Manor House with a huge barbecue. Fun time. All four parents are very happy and Karissa and Joe’s siblings were all at the wedding party with Joe’s nieces Sophia and Scarlett and Karissa’s niece Luna.
Sympathy to Lou Schmidt’s family. It was an honor to know him and share so many laughs with him and Fritzie. Lou was a valued member of the mountain top community and was a resident of Hunter, being the owner, along with his wife Fritzie, of Traphagen Honey Farm. They were strong supporters of our veterans programs. One of his most memorable quotes, after visiting the VA for the first time on Christmas and helping hand out presents, on his return home he said to Fritzie, “Now I know what Christmas is about. . ” This is your pass to Heaven Lou. God speed.
Condolences to John Falke on the death of his wife Donna Becker Falke. She will be missed by her family and friends.
The first leaf voyeurs had filled Prattsville last weekend. Pratt Rock and Main Street were packed.
Heard from the Chatfield sisters, Janet Syska and Judy Chatfield, on the West Coast. COVID is on the rise again in Oregon, and masks are mandatory outdoors and in public. Judy plans to have cataract surgery on her right eye this month. Success Judy. The sisters had a successful vegetable patch, even dabbling with eggplants and lemon cucumbers, and were all ready for winter meals. Forest fires always burn south of them and some days leave a thin layer of ash on their cars. Alpha dog GiGi is on the rise and she’s heading to Groomindales, I love the name, for a dog spa day. Judy is still working on her COVID quilt and made her promise to send a photo of it when finished.
Happy birthday to Samantha Baker on October 9th. Happy birthday to Brian Young on October 10th. We wish Bill Decker a happy birthday on October 11th. In Oregon, happy birthday to Judy Chatfield on October 12. On October 14th, we wish the twins Connie Constable and Becky Benson, Fritzie Schmidt and Cathy Martino a happy birthday. Happy birthday to Lisa Zimmerman and Dorothy Giordano on October 15th.
