The fiancee of a man killed in a serious car crash on his wedding day wore her wedding dress to pay tribute to her ahead of her funeral this week.
Myles Harty of Askeaton in Limerick died in an accident in which the car he was traveling in left Askeaton at Rathkeale Road in the early hours of last Saturday.
Mr Harty was in the front passenger seat of the car, which was occupied by two other people – the driver who was arrested and then released without charge and a passenger in the rear.
The 20-year-old was due to marry his partner Kate Quilligan later on the same day he died.
Tributes poured in for Mr Harty after his death and crowds gathered to pay tribute to him and his family at his funeral on Tuesday.
The funeral service was held at St Munchin’s Church in Limerick and prior to the service Ms Quilligan wore a t-shirt featuring a photo of Mr Harty alongside a message that read “RIP BOSS”.
A photo shared on social media on Monday, a day before the funeral, showed Ms Quilligan surrounded by her family and a photo of Mr Harty, as she held a bouquet of white flowers as she was dressed in her wedding gown. white bride.
A second photo has been edited to include a photo of Mr Harty standing next to her while wearing a suit.
Although the couple were unable to formally marry due to the tragic accident, Ms Quilligan has referred to Mr Harty as husband in a number of positions.
A message from Ms. Quilligan after the funeral also read: “I love you forever and one day is never a goodbye, just see you later.
“I can’t wait for a big hug and a kiss from you.”
