But in the rush to get her down the aisle, Jefferies forgot to tie the skirt.
Jefferies told Insider that she didn’t wear the skirt in the vehicle that transported her to the wedding because she didn’t want it to wrinkle.
Her friend gave the dress to a room attendant when they arrived, who mistakenly took it to a storage room with the rest of their belongings.
“The other girls in the car with me were rushed in to sit down, so I was left alone for the last few moments before walking down the aisle,” Jefferies said. “As soon as I got out of the car behind them and walked into the venue, I already heard the song I was walking to in the aisle, so I didn’t even have time to think.”
She didn’t realize she didn’t have the skirt on until the ceremony had already begun.
“The officiant was saying his first lines when I understood and I completely freaked out. I kept thinking, ‘This can’t be real. It doesn’t happen,'” she said.
As Jefferies shared with Insider, she had a nightmare forgetting the skirt a few days before the wedding, which made the whole experience even weirder.
“One of my recurring nightmares was forgetting something important on the wedding day, whether it was my makeup, my veil or the overskirt,” she said. “I was so excited to finally get the overskirt done, but I also had this fear that something wouldn’t work with it.”
