Seniors can register to get vaccinated at the driving site in Deltona


DELTONA, Florida – Volusia County leaders have partnered with the Florida County Department of Health to host a two-day in-car vaccination event in Deltona.

People 65 and older will be able to get the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Thursday and Friday at the Dewey O. Boster Sports Complex. Vaccinations will be administered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., by appointment.

All meeting slots were filled 15 minutes after the site opened for registration on Tuesday.

DOH-Volusia will return to this location in 28 days to deliver the second dose to those who are due. Those who receive a vaccination Thursday or Friday should plan to return to the site in 28 days for their second dose. Vaccines are free, according to the DOH.

How can I register?

Appointments should be made at volusiacountyc19deweyoboster.eventbrite.com. Registration opens Tuesday at 3 p.m. All slots were filled at 3:15 p.m.

How many appointments will be available?

The county said 1,000 appointments would be available each day and would be spread over hourly slots.

Once the time slots are full, the appointments will no longer be available. There is a maximum of two registrations per transaction.

People who show up to the walk-in event will not receive a vaccine, according to the county.

What if I cannot register online?

Those without internet access are asked to call 866-345-0345 for assistance in scheduling an appointment until registrations have reached maximum capacity for this event.

Calls will be answered on a first come, first served basis.

Vehicles must enter the site through a right turn from Saxon Boulevard, left turns in the entrance will not be permitted. Vehicles must exit via the section line path; no entry on the Section Line trail will be available.
