Princess Beatrice abandoned wedding plans that broke royal tradition

Printique wedding photography and printing experts analyzed monthly Google searches for the most prominent royal women’s wedding dresses. Kate, Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress was the most popular in the UK, with Princess Beatrice coming in second according to the data, ahead of other royals including Meghan Markle and the Queen.

Kate and Prince William were married at Westminster Abbey in London in 2011.

For the occasion, Kate wore an Alexander McQueen lace wedding dress that generates 14,000 searches per month, more than triple the searches for all the royal dresses on the list.

The dress featured an elegant Victorian bodice, a delicate V-neckline and long sleeves embroidered with lace and was valued at £ 250,000.

Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress is the second most wanted in the country, putting it above Princess Diana, Meghan Markle and even the Queen.

Beatrice, 33, married real estate developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July 2020.

The couple held a reduced service at the Royal Lodge’s All Saints Chapel in the midst of the Covid pandemic.

The wedding dress worn by Sarah Ferguson and the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew brings in 11,000 searches per month, which is almost three times the monthly search average for all royal wedding dresses.

For the occasion, Beatrice wore a vintage Norman Hartnell dress, crafted in Peau De Soie taffeta and adorned with rhinestones.

Her dress was also steeped in history, as it was a dress she had borrowed from her grandmother, the Queen.

The bridal outfit, with its sleek, fitted bodice and slightly flared skirt, was redesigned by royal designers Angela Kelly and Stewart Parvin.

To update the look of the dress for Beatrice’s special day, the designers added organza sleeves.

Beatrice also paid another special tribute to the Queen, choosing to wear the same diamond-fringed wedding tiara worn by Her Majesty on her wedding day to Prince Philip in 1947.

Beatrice’s choice of dress also drove searches for “vintage-style wedding dresses” to 228% worldwide in July 2020.

A spokesperson for Printique commented on the findings: “Royal wedding dresses represent some of the most extraordinary couture pieces in history.

The fact that Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress is the second most searched on Google in the UK, beating both Princess Diana and Meghan Markle’s dresses, proves the British public’s affection for the Queen ( who loaned the dress to Princess Beatrice) and the interest in vintage styles and the delicious nostalgia they evoke ”.

Her dress was also an anomaly in the marriage study, as it was not a new couture gown like the ones worn by Meghan and Beatrice’s sister Kate, Princess Eugenie.

Third place in the study’s ranking went to Princess Diana, whose dress is the subject of 8,000 searches per month.

For her wedding to Prince Charles in 1981, Diana wore an ivory silk taffeta and tulle gown crafted by David and Elizabeth Emanuel, and the iconic piece is double the average monthly searches for all the royal wedding dresses on the list.

The dress featured a 25-foot train, waves of crinoline skirts, and was encrusted with hand-embroidered beading and sequins, curving to a heart pattern on the fitted, boned bodice.

In fourth place, with 4,000 searches per month, the Givenchy dress worn by Meghan Markle for her wedding to Harry in 2018.

The bateau neckline gown also featured an elegant train and a veil embroidered with the national flowers of the 53 Commonwealth countries, in a nod to the Queen’s position as head of the Commonwealth.

Fifth place was claimed by the Queen while the sixth and seventh most sought after for royal wedding dresses belonged to Princess Eugenie and Princess Margaret.

Zara Tindall placed eighth, with Queen Victoria in ninth and Sarah Ferguson completing the top ten.
