Jim Edmonds shares his wedding date and plans for kids with Kortnie

In August 2021, Jim Edmonds and Kortnie O’Connor announced their engagement to the masses, just a year after revealing their relationship.

In a distant time (13 months ago), Jim was legally married to Meghan Kingthe mother of his three children and teammate of The Real Housewives of Orange County. After finalizing their divorce, the exes drifted into different worlds (aka Meghan married the president’s nephew, but split two months later).

Jim, along with his new bride-to-be, recently teased their upcoming nuptials. The couple say PEOPLE that the ceremony will take place on September 25 – at Villa D’Este on Lake Como, Italy. The event will be “very small” and the theme is “All Roads Lead to Love”.

Kortnie told the outlet, “As I’m sure everyone knows, this isn’t Jim’s first time. So we just wanted to enjoy everyone – all of our close friends and family. An adventure for everyone, not another church wedding.

She added: “I planned it in Italy for that reason…Jim never went there. I thought it might be an experience for her kids, and just to celebrate our relationship and let everyone enjoy it too. So that was the goal, and Lake Como is a very beautiful destination.

Right now, Kortnie is “doing everything on the fly” as she prepares for the wedding. “It’s a challenge, but it’s really fun,” she says. “So I’m excited.” The 37-year-old’s dress is from the bride’s designer Lee Petra Grebenau.

Jim said the location could be “wherever” Kortnie wanted. “Italy was the first thought, actually,” she shared. “And everything started to fall into place. It just seemed like it was meant to be.

On the big day, after a garden ceremony, guests dine overlooking Lake Como. The day before, participants will experience a welcome cruise on the water.

As the couple plan their festivities, one obstacle keeps cropping up: jet lag (Italy is nine hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time).

“We get calls at 5 a.m. and we have to answer, and they’re pretty much done for their day,” he said. “So it’s not a challenge, but…your normal phone call or your email chain can take a few days to get something through. And I think it’s like anything, if you kiss, that’s the fun part as long as it’s also the challenge.

It looks like the couple did the dirty work of trimming the guest list. As of now, they’re inviting 30 “close friends and family”, which each includes Jim’s children. The baseball pro wants the kids to “be involved” on the wedding day.

“We want them to enjoy our day, our special day, our relationship, and then the region,” he said. “To like [Kortnie] said, I’ve never been there, and I thought it was pretty special if we could all be comfortable there and show them things they’ve never seen – I don’t ever seen – I think that’s a big deal. My dad always taught me, ‘Hey, when you travel, be careful and look around, and buy a shirt.’ When I was working, when I was playing baseball, I never had the opportunity to do too much. »

What are the couple’s plans after the wedding? “I think we may have looked to move a little more to Tennessee to look for a farm. Either that or somewhere away from everyone,” Jim shared. He likes the idea of ”thinking outside the box for at least some of the time and not being in the mainstream.”

Kortnie agreed that “a little more privacy” is a good thing.

As for the future, Jim and Kortnie “talked about everything,” including the possibility of having more children.

“From having another one to maybe adopting one,” Jim revealed. “Everything is open and on the table right now for us. We’re having such a great time, there’s really no looking back on anything.
