Couple wed after pandemic-related postponements at Juno Beach

JUNO, Fla. — Friday night was a WPTV NewsChannel 5 wedding of 14 years.

My former roommates, former WPTV Promos Producer Rachel Papp and former WPTV Photographer Cody Jackson got married at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach.

If you’ve been part of our family for a while, you might recognize some of the faces at the wedding.

“It’s friends organizing and coming together. And so for that, I think it really means a lot to get the chance to have the full experience,” said WPTV presenter Ashleigh Walters.

Cody and Rachel met at WPTV in 2008. And it was love at first sight.

“I felt like this day would never come and my friends and family were near and far here celebrating. I’m trying to keep calm because it’s overwhelming in the best way possible,” said Rachel, the bride.

Former WPTV reporter Dan Corcoran was the officiant, “We’ve all waited a long time for this. They already know they were going to spend the rest of their lives together. So if they had to wait a little longer to come to that point, so be it.”

The WPTV alumni have converged to celebrate an already complete union, now official.

It was one of the first weddings at the newly renovated Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach.

“I was a volunteer there. I love their mission. I love that they rehabilitate sea turtles,” Rachel said.

As the sky opened up and it started to rain, we all noted, “It wouldn’t be a Channel 5 wedding without a little rain for good luck.”

“Marriages, just like life, have their own way of taking a different turn on a road. It could be time,” Walters said.

It was a moment that will never be forgotten by the couple and their friends.

“If you’re in the right frame of mind to really be in the moment. It’s absolutely amazing to look around and see these people that you love, who have been supporting you and supporting you and supporting the success in your marriage and your life together.. All in one place,” Walters said.
