BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION The fastest road SUV in the world

The BRABUS ROCKET 900 V8 twin-turbo engine with increased displacement makes the GLE 63 S 4MATIC + coupe and of course also its brother with the standard five-door body a high-performance automobile in a class of its own.

To increase the displacement of the original 3,982 cc eight-cylinder engine to 243 to 269 cubic inches (4,407 cc), the cylinder bores are enlarged to 84 millimeters (3.3 inches) and larger forged pistons are installed . A precision-balanced billet special crankshaft with increased stroke to 100 millimeters (3.9 in) and longer, forged piston rods also complete the increase in displacement.

Once the hood is open, the BRABUS 900 V8 increased displacement engine can be recognized by the BRABUS engine hood made of red carbon fibers. Two high-pressure pumps with increased flow rate and an additional boost pump supply the engine with fuel.

There are other equally basic components of this high-performance engine hidden out of sight in the engine compartment: the two production turbos are replaced by special BRABUS turbochargers with a larger compressor unit and core assemblies. modified with a reinforced axial bearing.

The engine modification also includes larger downpipes with a diameter of 75 millimeters (2.9 inches) as well as special metal catalysts and particulate filters. The exhaust side is completed by the BRABUS stainless steel sports exhaust system with integrated exhaust flaps and two BRABUS titanium / carbon tailpipes with a diameter of 90 millimeters (3.5 inches) on each side of the vehicle. This system offers active sound management with a hoarse V8 sound when the system is open or a subtle whisper in “Coming Home” mode.

BRABUS powertrain engineers and electronics specialists use their vast expertise to coordinate the optimal interaction of these high-performance components in extensive serial bench tests and equally extensive road tests. This not only ensures maximum power, but also low emissions and flawless durability. BRABUS documents this with the exemplary BRABUS tuning warranty of 3 years or 100,000 km / 62,000 miles (see BRABUS warranty terms and conditions, updated July 2013). BRABUS recommends high performance lubricants from MOTUL.

The enormous constructive effort is reflected in exceptional performance. The maximum power of 662 kW / 900 hp (888 hp) at 6,200 rpm is a benchmark in this class of vehicles, as is the massive peak torque of 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft) between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm. This value is electronically limited in the vehicle to 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft) to protect the driveline.

The performance of the BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION on the road, shown here with a “Superior Gray” paint finish, matches these outstanding figures. At rest, the SUV weighing around 2.5 metric tons reaches a speed of 100 km / h (62 mph) in just 3.2 seconds. Depending on the tire / wheel combination chosen, the electronic speed limiter only intervenes at a speed of 330 km / h (205 mph).

Captivating look and optimal aerodynamic function: the designers of BRABUS have developed body components made of carbon, a high-tech material, for the GLE 63 Coupé. They make the fastback look even more spectacular. In addition: thanks to its sophisticated shape, the chin spoiler attached to the lower part of the fairing minimizes the lift of the front axle at high speeds and thus further optimizes handling stability. Air intakes on the sides of the front bumper complete the striking BRABUS look together with the BRABUS front mesh and the two dynamic air intakes. The driver’s side admission has a cross brace with the ROCKET logo. Pulling on a doorknob or approaching the supercar while carrying the key card activates the emblem’s integrated lighting.

BRABUS has developed a carbon trim for the side air outlets in the rear fairing as well as a diffuser insert that perfectly showcases the four tailpipes of the BRABUS high performance exhaust system. The three-part rear spoiler completes the concept of aerodynamic improvement of the GLE Coupe.

BRABUS replaces the standard wheel arch extensions on the front and rear axles with sporty fender flares made of exposed carbon. BRABUS alloys for the GLE 63 are available in different designs and with diameters of 21, 22, 23 or 24 inches. In the photo, the most exclusive variant – the BRABUS Monoblock Z “PLATINUM EDITION” wheels with a diameter of 24 inches and exposed carbon aero discs. Using advanced forging technology, these ten spoke rims combine lightweight construction with exceptional strength. The front axle runs on size 10Jx24 wheels with high performance 295/30 ZR 24 tires. 355/25 ZR 24 size tires on 12Jx24 rims at the rear axle provide grip and a spectacular look.

The BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION supercars with a top speed of 330 km / h (205 mph) come with 23 inch diameter BRABUS Monoblock Y “PLATINUM EDITION” forged rims and Continental high performance tires. The front axle then has ten inch wide wheels mounted with size 295/30 ZR 23 tires. The rear axle rolls on size 12Jx23 rims with 335/30 ZR 23 tires.

The BRABUS control module for the air suspension of the high-performance SUV, which lowers the ride height by approximately 25 millimeters (1 in), further contributes to the exceptional handling of an SUV. This not only gives the four-wheel drive car a more exciting visual position, but also improves the driving dynamics through lowering the center of gravity.

Bottrop’s refinement specialist also enjoys worldwide renown in the field of automotive interior fittings. The company’s upholstery store also creates interior fittings for the BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION, which are tailored down to the smallest detail to the customer’s wishes. Upholsterers use the best BRABUS Mastik leather, a particularly soft and breathable type of leather, and Alcantara to handcraft a high-quality BRABUS fine leather interior in the color of your choice. The BRABUS noble wood and carbon interior packages also offer maximum variety in terms of colors and surface finishes.

The interior of the first copy of the BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION, which is painted “Superior Gray”, is color coordinated with the exterior. The BRABUS fine leather accessories were covered in gray leather to match the outer skin. The center sections of the seat and the interior sections of the door panels feature square quilting applied with extreme precision and additional perforations. To match the red brake calipers and the two equally red signature stripes on the grille, the leather features contrasting red highlights. In addition, all the cockpit fittings feature red glazing. The same color also adorns the pedals, door pins and RACE paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Stainless steel sill plates with backlit BRABUS logo in sync with the ambient lighting complete the interior.

The BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION starts at 381,243 euros
